POSITION SUMMARY:
Supervises warehouse personnel in the coordination of daily warehousing activities. Responsible for the organization and scheduling of staff according to workload on a day-to-day basis. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
Minimum four (4) years of previous experience working in a warehouse.
Minimum three (3) years of previous experience operating a forklift.
Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience.
A valid clean driver’s license.
Ability to communicate (read and write) effectively at an intermediate level in English
Basic to intermediate computer skills in programs such as MS Office (Word and Outlook).
Ability to work with limited supervision and strong self-initiative.
Must have the ability to think logically, follow procedures, instructions and make sound decisions
Must be able to work in a fast paced and constantly changing operational environment
Must have the ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, and employee relations.
Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills and must provide attention to detail
Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees
Must be flexible to work weekends, holidays and/or extended hours as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary
Supervises warehouse personnel, and makes recommendations to Warehouse Manager related to hiring, firing and disciplinary actions of personnel.
Handles worker’s compensation and safety issues on an ongoing basis.
Informs manager of the need for additional or replacement equipment, materials and supplies.
Helps ensure the compliance of administrative policies and procedures.
Trains and coaches staff on effective and efficient use of Magaya.
Recommends process improvement related to the services offered.
Assists internal customers with problems and additional services for customers.
Oversees the day-to-day activities of the warehouse. Such activities include cargo receipt, cargo loading, and coordination with POM facilities for receipt of containers for placement on vessel, etc.
Alerts other personnel of special truck and/or container loading or customer delivery requirements.
Leads warehouse assistants in conducting daily safety inspections of forklifts and any other tools needed to perform duties.
Implements and promotes warehouse safety programs in order to provide a safe and clean workplace for employees and within the regulations of all OSHA local and state regulations.
Assists the manager in the coordination of the daily warehouse layout.
Takes initiative in directing investigations of customer complaints.
Performs additional related duties as they arise.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use their hands.
The employee occasionally is required to talk and/or hear.
The employee is frequently required to sit.
The employee is continuously required to stand and walk.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Ability to climb, reach and/or bend regularly (driving mule).
Ability to twist (i.e. to drive in reverse)
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Report safety hazards.
Immediately report incidents involving injury, illness, or property damage.
Wear appropriate PPE as instructed by immediate supervisor.
Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and rules.
Refuse any unsafe task or operation.
Participate in safety meetings and training.
Be constantly aware of their personal safety and that of their coworkers.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Receives direct supervision from the Warehouse Manager. Exercises supervision over Warehouse Assistants and receiving/data entry personnel.
CONDITIONS:
Indoors/outdoors (roofed area with open doors) exposed to changing weather.
Exposure to dust and/or fumes.
Exposed to marked changes in temperature & humidity.
Operate heavy machinery.
The noise level in the work environment is usually busy.
