About the Campaign
Darden Copeland is a Democrat running for Congress in Tennessee's newly redrawn 7th Congressional District. This is a genuinely competitive race: recent polling suggests a 5-point race, and Democrats improved their margin in this district by more than 12 points in the December 2025 special election.
Position Overview
The Volunteer Coordinator builds the people power behind the field program. In a race that recent polling suggests is within 5 points, volunteer capacity is what separates winning from almost winning. You will own volunteer recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and retention across the district, making sure every supporter who raises a hand gets a meaningful shift.
Responsibilities
- Recruit volunteers through calls, texts, events, sign-ups, and partner organizations
- Own the volunteer pipeline: confirm shifts, reduce flake rate, and re-engage lapsed volunteers
- Run volunteer onboarding and trainings for canvassing, phone banking, and texting
- Manage volunteer data and shift scheduling in VAN/Mobilize
- Plan volunteer appreciation efforts and build a culture that keeps people coming back
- Staff campaign events and support Regional Field Directors with surge capacity for big weekends and GOTV
Qualifications
- Organizing, volunteer management, or community engagement experience (campaign experience a plus but not required)
- Highly organized, personable, and energized by working with people
- Comfort with VAN, Mobilize, or similar tools, or the ability to learn quickly
- Availability on nights and weekends, when volunteers volunteer
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Compensation & Details
Salary commensurate with experience. Position runs through the November 2026 general election and is based in Tennessee's 7th District (Nashville area preferred). Nights and weekends required, as is standard on a competitive campaign.
