- Texas Marketing and Business Development Manager
Description
Kean Miller is seeking a full-time Marketing and Business Development Manager to support the firm’s rapid growth across all offices and specifically in Houston and The Woodlands. This position is based in downtown Houston and provides strategic direction and hands-on support to develop, implement, and drive various marketing and business development initiatives and handle day-to-day marketing matters. The preferred candidate will have experience in the energy and petrochemical sector and a solid understanding of economic drivers of the Lone Star State.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Business Development, this is a collaborative position that will work closely with practice group and office administrative partners, Texas-based partners, client teams, associates and a seven-person marketing team consisting of the COO (Baton Rouge), Director (New Orleans), two seasoned Marketing Managers (Baton Rouge and New Orleans), two experienced Marketing Coordinators (both in Baton Rouge) and a Visual Communications Coordinator (Baton Rouge).

Requirements
Key responsibilities include:
- Manages the development and implementation of marketing strategies at the attorney, practice group, office, and firm levels.
- Manages projects specifically related to helping attorneys achieve their marketing goals and objectives.
- Conceptualizes, develops, and manages client-facing marketing events.
- Manages participation in external seminars, sponsorships, speaking opportunities, professional/industry organizations, and networking events.
- Serves as liaison with multiple Texas-based and national organizations.
- Researches and analyzes information to identify marketing opportunities as well as speaking and thought-leadership opportunities.
- Coordinates and implements Texas-based media relations and external communications.
- Works with client development teams and helps prepare selected pitches/proposals, including compiling materials and rehearsing presentations.
- Develops, disseminates, and updates various marketing materials, ensuring materials are up-to-date and readily available, including practice descriptions and brochures, experience lists, and biographies.
- Oversees creation and maintenance of databases for mailing and contact lists in coordination with the Marketing Coordinator.
- Assists with website, blogs, and social media content and ensures accuracy.
- Assists with legal surveys and attorney rankings.
- Collaborates with practice group attorneys to support practice group, office, and firm marketing and public relations initiatives.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of relevant professional services marketing experience.
- Legal experience is preferred.
- Effective written and oral communications skills.
- Ability to write business correspondence, proposals/pitches, and reports.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business and professional publications.
- Time management and organizational skills to prioritize work and handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.
- Ability to take initiative, anticipate needs, and exercise independent, sound judgment.
- Commitment to exceptional client service and dedication to high-quality work.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with a wide range of individuals with differing opinions and diverse personalities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proactive self-starter; strategic thinker.
- Ability to work independently as well as manage projects and assignments in a collaborative team environment.
- Discretion in dealing with confidential information.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, familiarity using InterAction (CRM) and photo and design programs, and ability to adapt to new software programs.
- Occasional work outside standard business hours, along with limited business travel.
