The Black Engineers of Canada team is seeking a highly motivated, smart and energetic individual to serve as a Partnership Engagement Coordinator Intern.
Duration of Internship: June 29 - August 21, 2026.
Hours per week: 35 hrs
Salary Compensation: $17.60/hr
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Outreach Coordinator/Special Events Intern is accountable for managing and coordinating correspondences with BEC’s community and corporate Partners. The aim is to encourage audience interaction, raise audience presence, and encourage audience participation. Outcomes for the internship role will be learning how to develop work plans as a team as well as gaining experience in engaging clients internal and external to the organization through coordinating delivery hand-offs.
Reporting to the Partnership Director, the successful candidate will have considerable opportunity for growth and learning in the areas of non-profit activities as it relates to building strategic alliances to support the organization’s mission and objectives.
The Outreach Coordinator/Special Events Intern will have exposure in coordinating events and participating in meetings with our strategic partners and be an integral part of the development of MOU’s
The Intern will support all Partnership committee initiatives including and not limited to keeping track of action items and ensuring that they are being followed through

Responsibilities consist of, but are not limited to:
Project Administration (80%)
Maintain and update activity events calendar
Prepare written and email correspondence on behalf of our BEC Partnership committee
Prepare materials for events and partnership committee meetings as necessary
Conduct background research on prospective partners and make recommendations
Support Partnership Director with projects as needed
Board of Directors (20%)
Coordinate communications and directives between the Partnership committee and Board members
Coordinate and support Partnership activity reporting for monthly board meetings
Requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Commitment to the mission of the Black Engineers of Canada
Strong customer-service orientation
Strong sense of accountability to duties and responsibilities
Great time management skills, particularly in a fast paced, dynamic environment
Some familiarity with the non-profit sector (as volunteer, employee, board member, client, constituent, etc.)
Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in English (verbal and written)
Ability to work with little supervision
Maintain high professional ethical standards
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Take pride in responding quickly to all inquiries and requests
Impeccable follow-through skills
Intermediate to advanced skills with MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint/Keynote , Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Meet
EDUCATION:
Enrolled in a Degree program at a College or University and is returning to school in September 2025.
EXPERIENCE:
Two years experience in professional office environment preferred
