SUMMARY OF PRINCIPAL & MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: The Sales Manager, under the direction of the Chief Sales Officer, is responsible for generating convention, meeting, and group business within assigned market segments, including SMERF and corporate. This role requires a strategic and analytical approach to identifying high-value opportunities, building relationships, and driving measurable impact for Corpus Christi. The Sales Manager will maintain and grow a client base and achieve individual and team goals set forth by the organization. These performance-based duties are essential to the Sales Department for Visit Corpus Christi.
PAY STATUS: Exempt / Bi-Weekly Salary
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and execute strategic prospecting initiatives to identify and pursue group business opportunities within assigned market segments.
- Generate data-driven business opportunities by utilizing CRM system, booking history, and industry data tools to target impactful leads.
- Qualify and prioritize leads to ensure focus on opportunities that align with destination need periods and economic impact goals.
- Respond to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) in a timely, strategic, and customized manner.
- Actively manage and maintain a detailed sales pipeline within the CRM, ensuring accurate tracking, reporting, and forecasting of business.
- Meet or exceed established goals for lead generation, room nights, and economic impact.
- Conduct site visits and deliver compelling presentations that effectively showcase the destination.
- Travel to industry tradeshows, conferences, and events to generate new business and strengthen relationships.
- Collaborate with the Destination Services team to ensure seamless client experience for client retention.
- Assist in the planning and execution of familiarization tours and other strategic initiatives that promote Corpus Christi to potential clients.
- Maintain strong relationships with local hospitality partners, stakeholders, and community leaders.
- Provide regular reporting on sales activity, booking pace, and market insights to leadership.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills, and/or abilities.
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to utilize data and insights towards actionable sales strategies.
- Proven ability to generate leads, manage a pipeline, and close business in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate ability to achieve assigned booking goals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong experience with a CRM system (e.g., Simpleview, Delphi, or Salesforce).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong relationship-building skills and ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to make sound decisions, solve problems, and adapt to fluid market demands.
- High level of professionalism, accountability, and customer service focus.
Education, Training and Experience:
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in sales, business development, or related field (hospitality, tourism, or meetings industry preferred).
- Proven track record of achieving sales, booking, or revenue goals.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
License/Certifications: Must have valid driver’s license, vehicle, and car insurance
Computer Software: Microsoft Office; Simpleview or CRM experience a plus
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for extended periods of time. Shall be able to apply 20 lbs. of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Must be able to view computer screen for extended period of time with clear, close-up vision.

Additional Requirements:
Employees are required to reside within the defined Corpus Christi Metropolitan Statistical Area.
