Description
Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Sales Assistant in Salem, Virginia. The Sales Assistant position is responsible for performing administrative duties associated with projects and general office tasks, including but not limited to - printing, copying, scanning, processing invoices, utilizing Docusign, etc. The Assistant also performs seasonal pricing updates in the ERP, downloading and filtering reports, and communicating with service on all new inventory arrivals. Seeking candidates with previous experience in an administrative role; High school diploma or equivalent; Previous sales support experience a plus.Requirements for the Sales Assistant position include:
- Self-starter able to work with limited supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Must be able to communicate and network with Carter Machinery personnel throughout the company.
- Must be proficient with data entry skills and Microsoft Excel.
- Must be a to handle large volumes of work in a fast-paced work environment.
- Must be willing to work shifts needed, including days, nights, and/or weekends to meet customer demands.

Physical requirements must be met for the Assistant job, including regularly being required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
