Position Summary, Duties and Responsibilities
Hiring Range $53,370 - $69,380
The Recreation Coordinator - Field House is responsible for the overall administration and management of Youth Sports programs and youth sports camps.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans, develops, implements, monitors, and administers youth sports programs for a metropolitan community of 125,000 and a guest population exceeding 200,000 at various facilities in the district.
- Plans, organizes, and schedules all programming in youth sports, while evaluating demand/usage trends with approval from the Recreation Manager.
- Manages budget to meet department goals for revenue and expenditures.
- Recommends pay increases and promotions. Evaluate employees’ performance, take necessary steps to reward high performers, and take disciplinary action while keeping the Recreation Manager informed. Assures compliance with the district's assigned facilities' policies, rules, and regulations.
- Interacts with patrons and guests positively and professionally.
- Responsible for relaying current knowledge and accurate information on all Apex PRD programs and activities.
- Processes daily admissions for the facility, which may include cash, check, or credit card payments. Follow established procedures to reconcile the cash drawer (if handling money) daily.
- Writes program descriptions, prepares brochure entries, and coordinates program publicity with the marketing department.
- Schedules and publicizes activities, ensuring maximum effectiveness in attracting and motivating participants and providing a wide range of activities in terms of community interest.
- Ensures staff has equipment, supplies, training, and services to accomplish all scheduled activities, programs, and classes.
- Responsible for safety and cleanliness of facilities and equipment used by programs.
- Runs reports, gathers information and completes research on safety concerns, facility and equipment needs, fee structure comparisons, and district-wide needs.
- Ensures that concerns and issues are addressed immediately with participants, including but not limited to guests and parents, and that appropriate action is taken to ensure all participants' safety and enjoyment of activities.
OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works periodically on special projects as assigned.
- Serves on committees and focus groups as assigned.
- Instructs specialized courses relative to staff training and recruitment.
- Possesses strong customer service and interpersonal skills to communicate verbally and in writing effectively.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES:
- This position recruits and supervises numerous year-round, seasonal, and part-time staff and volunteers considered subject experts.
Requirements
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge of computers and programs for scheduling classes such as camps and clinics, preferably Teamsideline and Rec.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn any other district software programs.
- Possesses vital customer service and interpersonal skills to communicate verbally and in writing effectively.
- Ability to be flexible, work independently and as a team member, and assume responsibility for task initiative and completion.
- Working knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and office equipment.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with other divisions, Board members, outside agencies, and the public.
- Ability to analyze situations thoroughly, identify problems, and find practical solutions.
Education and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Physical Education, or another related field and two years of experience in a corresponding position.
- A combination of education and experience may be acceptable.
- Must possess current and valid Colorado driver’s license; CPR, first aid, and AED certifications or obtain within 90 days of hire
- CPRP Preferred.
Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in inside conditions.
- The noise level may be moderate to loud, with occasional high levels and vibrations.
- The employee may occasionally encounter fumes, odors, and dust.
- Occasionally, the employee will be required to work outside or drive in varying temperatures and conditions.
- The employee may sometimes encounter mechanical hazards.
Physical Activities:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, occasionally stand, and walk.
- The employee must use hands and fingers, handle, feel, or operate objects, occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, see, and smell.
- The employee must occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds without assistance and sometimes more than 100 pounds with assistance.
Travel:
- The employee is required to travel to different facilities across the district. The employee may be required to attend meetings or workshops outside the district
