As a Platoon Supervisor, you will provide leadership, direction and support to Public Safety Communicators while helping ensure the effective operations of the PECC South location and it’s systems. In this role, you will lead emergency communications services responsible for answering 9-1-1 calls across Saskatchewan communities and dispatching multiple fire and rescue agencies. You will also play a key role in advancing a service delivery model designed to support future growth and potential expansion into law enforcement and police communications services.
In this position, you will apply quality control and due diligence practices within CanOps operating parameters, support compliance with legislation and regulatory requirements, and provide operational direction under the delegated authority of the Communications Centre Operations Manager.
Platoon Supervisors work a rotational schedule consisting of days, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays with their assigned platoon.
Requirements
Required
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
Minimum four years of experience in emergency communications, public safety, emergency response, or a related operational environment.
Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and support team performance in a fast-paced operational environment.
Ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute accurately.
Strong computer proficiency and the ability to learn and navigate multiple software systems.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Successful completion of a hearing assessment.
Valid Class 5 driver's license.
Access to reliable transportation.
Ability and willingness to travel as required.
Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check at the candidate's expense.
Successful completion of additional background screening, assessments, and verification processes as required for the position.
Assets
APCO Communications Centre Supervisor certification.
APCO Public Safety Telecommunicator Certification.
Leadership experience within a public safety or emergency communications environment.
Post-secondary education.
