This job provides administrative/professional skills in managing the Patient Relations functions of the company; assumes responsibility for assessing issues and facilitating appropriate action; assumes responsibility for coordinating with Risk Management and Finance for any matters relating to billing adjustments; works with patients, families, and/or staff in handling and resolving problems that occur during the course of hospitalization or clinic visit; serves as a liaison between patients and families who use company services, physicians, other healthcare providers, and the community; exhibits the skills to manage complaints and use mediation and negotiation skills; assumes responsibility for the recruitment, orientation and supervision of volunteers; spearheads patient satisfaction initiatives and works with department heads to improve patient satisfaction scores; and works collaboratively with various hospital departments to coordinate an exceptional patient/guest experience.

Education
Required - High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred - Bachelor's degree in Healthcare or Business Administration or related field. Additional degrees, business training experience and/or certifications may be combined to meet minimum qualifications.
Work Experience
Required - 7 years related health care experience preferably in an ambulatory setting including two years of supervision or management experience OR Bachelor's degree in Healthcare or Business Administration or related field with three years of related health care experience preferably in an ambulatory care setting including two years of supervision or management experience
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information. Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management skills and self directed
- Good presentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
Job Duties
- Provides Patient Relations Information/Reporting

Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid.
The incumbent has no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases
Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
