Job Description:
Budget Title: Lead Programmer/Analyst (SL-3)
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Binghamton University's Information Technology Services (ITS) is looking for an experienced system administrator to support our Learning Management System, currently D2L Brightspace as well as our Zoom Video Conferencing environment.
The LMS Administrator will be responsible for the administration of our LMS and Zoom environments including development and design, maintenance, support, training, and communications. The successful candidate must be able to work both independently of direct supervision, as well as collaboratively with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students. The administrator will report to the Assistant Director of Client Support Services, and work with the senior LMS administrator, other members of the ITS staff, and various departments and faculty across campus.
The LMS Administrator will:
- Provide administration and support for D2L Brightspace and Zoom environments, including role permissions, course merges, and webinar configurations.
- Install, configure, and maintain integrations (eg. Gradescope, Turnitin, Panopto).
- Collaborate on system updates, participate in technology integrations, and manage the YuJa Panorama accessibility tool.
- Provide second level technical support and customer service via TeamDynamix (Binghamton's ticketing system).
- Act as the primary escalation point for vendor related issues with D2L and Zoom.
- Develop and lead workshops, drop-in sessions, and one-on-one consultations for faculty and staff.
- Represent the LMS team in campus committees, work groups, and project teams.
- Maintain and update support websites and Knowledge Articles related to Brightspace and Zoom.
- Must be able to maintain data confidentiality and adhere to compliance standards (HIPAA, FERPA, PCI, etc).
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (or higher)
- Minimum of one year experience in LMS administration and technical customer support with Brightspace, Blackboard, Canvas, or other LMS.
- Experience delivering LMS support to faculty, staff, and students in traditional or hybrid learning environments
- Customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form with technical and non-technical clients
- Experience developing technical documentation and leading training workshops
- Experience troubleshooting LMS user impacting issues
- Demonstrated ability to stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices
Preferred:
- A Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems/Sciences, or a related field
- Three years of experience working as a LMS administrator, preferably Brightspace
- Experience configuring and/or implementing 3rd party LTI tools in an LMS
- Familiarity with project management practices with the ability to manage competing projects
- Experience using ITSM ticketing software, preferably TeamDynamix
- Knowledge of instructional design principles, practices, and/or theories
- Demonstrated knowledge of web accessibility (WCAG) standards
- Familiarity with LMS-integrated digital accessibility tools (e.g. YuJa Panorama, Anthology Ally)
- Knowledge of technical standards (e.g. IMS, SCORM, LTI) and their implementation
- Experience working with Application Programming Interface (API) calls and data automation within an LMS
- Experience supporting learning tool integrations including plagiarism detection software, virtual proctoring tools, and video content management systems. (e.g. Gradescope, Turnitin, Panapto, Respondus, Zoom)
- Experience working in a large complex organization, in higher education or a research environment
