Position Summary:
The Institutional Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and monitoring custodial and minor maintenance activities in building facilities and supervising laundry room functions in an institutional setting. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Adhere to the vision and guiding principles of the Finance and Administration Division.
- Supervise cleaning team, motivate, train and interact with the people under their supervision to assure that their assigned area is cleaned in a way that maximizes sanitation, appearance and safety.
- Train team personnel to properly use supplies and equipment and to assure that what is needed is requisitioned and properly recorded.
- Plan, initiate and complete projects beyond normal daily maintenance, designed to optimize the appearance of assigned areas.
- Develop a relationship with their personnel that is professional, progressive and conducive to productive activity.
- Maintain records and line of communication regarding reports of maintenance and safety deficiencies in their assigned areas.
- Conduct safety and procedural training for members of a cleaning team Inspect work of cleaning team and generate work orders for maintenance in the buildings cleaned by a cleaning team.
- Requisition supplies for a cleaning team.
- Maintain records of supplies and equipment used by a cleaning team.
- Ensure that all team members' time cards, work orders, and other assigned paper work are correct and turned in on time.
- Team Leaders will wear daily, the assigned uniform as designated in the Uniform FMOP. Exceptions will be in writing for approval by the AVC.
- Approve time in FAMIS correctly, monitor personal information in Banner, and make use of assigned computer use time in accordance with guidelines provided.
- Report to Coordinator any conduct or performance problems with team members and keep Coordinator informed of absences or tardiness, and the reasons for such by team members.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures, custodial and maintenance practices and techniques, materials and equipment used in custodial and maintenance work, and the operation and maintenance requirements of commercial laundry equipment.
Ability to maintain adequate supplies and inventory records, prepare written documents, conduct inspections to determine compliance with standards, and supervise staff of subordinate supervisors, custodial workers and semi-skilled maintenance repairmen.

Monday - Friday
4:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

This position is considered Essential Personnel with Facilities Management.
Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of a High School Diploma.
Three (3) years of vocational, on-the-job training, and/or experience in housekeeping, or a related field including one (1) year in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
Preferred to possess a valid Driver's License.
Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee.
