POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Coordinator monitors and maintains confidential personnel records; manages procedures and processes for employment of district staff; works independently in responding to requests and questions from administrators, staff, union representatives and the public. Position requires expertise in complex human resources issues, problem solving, contract interpretation/implementation, and high levels of independent decision making.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilitate new hire onboarding and orientation.
Prepare and distribute annual employee contracts, letters of intent, and letters of reasonable assurance to all district staff.
Calculate, prepare and coordinate salary placement for payroll implementation for district staff including those derived from contracts, increments, supplemental contracts and stipends.
Collaborate and coordinate between human resources and payroll for the purposes of organizing and supporting systems, activities, decision making and problem solving to provide effective service and support to employees.
Ensure proper certification of staff as endorsements and licensure changes occur.
Maintain auditable source documents for employee contracts, certification, transcripts and training experience for staff.
Be knowledgeable about and consistently apply and ensure compliance with board policies, contract language, and state and federal laws related to personnel issues.
Analyze, interpret, maintain and prepare accurate data for TSD business and decision making as it relates to personnel, and state reporting including S-275.
Work with directors and administrators for annual staffing, budget creation, preparation and implementation.
Provide labor relations and negotiation support for collective bargaining.
Cultivate open and expedient communication with district staff and public.
Manage medical leaves ensuring that the leave is compliant with FMLA, PFML, FSLA, and ADA.
Manage Labor and Industries claims and Return to Work program.
Monitor and maintain confidential personnel records and files.
Manage student teacher and internship placements, including confirming or negotiating affiliation agreements with participating universities.
Maintain confidentiality with sensitive information in an ethical manner.
Participate in teamwork and staff cross-training.
Attend regularly scheduled meetings with colleagues.
Assist other personnel, with related tasks, as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities and for the enhancement of daily operations of the school district.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous Human Resources experience in a Washington State school district preferred.
Advanced training and/or education in human resources, business administration, and employment practices preferred.
Skills that exemplify high level of computer proficiency and application of technology.
Detail oriented; possess strong initiative and excellent organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively establish work priorities and work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to work both independently and cooperatively, exercise judgement and creativity, organize work, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
Ability to research, analyze and interpret legal decisions, data, rules, regulations, codes, statutes, and laws.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and public.
Ability to work extended shifts when necessary.
Positive interpersonal communication skills to consistently demonstrate responsive customer service.
Participate in special projects as assigned and perform related duties and key responsibilities consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
