Description
Event Production Business Development/Account Executive
$75,000 Base Salary + Strong Commission | Full-Time
Build relationships. Win business. Create great events.
We are looking for an energetic, relationship-driven Business Development / Account Executive to join our team and grow our event production and audiovisual business.
This is an opportunity for someone who understands that successful event sales are about more than selling equipment. It's about understanding the client's event, finding the right production solution, building trust, and developing relationships that lead to repeat business.
Our clients include major national associations and organizations, including groups such as U.S. Travel Association, BIO, APHA, and other organizations producing conferences, meetings and large-scale events.
What You'll Do
Develop new business and cultivate relationships with meeting planners, association executives, corporate event professionals and other event decision-makers.
Manage and grow existing client relationships.
Identify opportunities for audiovisual, production, staging, lighting, video, sound and related event services.
Meet with clients to understand their objectives, venues, budgets and production requirements.
Develop proposals and work with our production team to create appropriate solutions.
Follow opportunities from initial contact through proposal, contract and completion.
Maintain an active sales pipeline and consistently prospect for new business.
Attend industry events, association meetings, trade shows and networking opportunities.
Work closely with our operations and production teams to ensure that what we sell is successfully delivered.
Develop long-term client relationships and generate repeat business and referrals.
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is a salesperson first and a relationship builder at heart.
Experience in event production, audiovisual, meetings, hospitality, association management or a related field is helpful—but it is not required. Industry knowledge is definitely a plus. We would also consider someone with a strong background in B2B sales who has the personality, drive and curiosity to learn the event-production business.
Be confident, personable and comfortable meeting with clients.
Have strong communication and presentation skills.
Be organized and capable of managing multiple opportunities simultaneously.
Be persistent without being pushy.
Understand consultative selling and relationship development.
Be comfortable discussing budgets and negotiating business.
Have the ability to learn audiovisual and event-production solutions.
Be motivated by both relationships and results.
Be willing to travel as needed for client meetings and events.
Have a strong professional network—or the ability to build one.
Compensation
Base salary: $75,000
The base salary is somewhat negotiable depending on experience and qualifications.
In addition, the position offers a strong commission opportunity based on completed business.
Commission: 3% of qualifying gross revenue
For example: $500,000 in completed business = $15,000 commission
Commission is paid quarterly and is based on completed business that meets our established profitability guidelines.
As a general rule, we look for approximately 45% gross margin or better on the business. However, we recognize that every event is different, and margin expectations and commission eligibility can be discussed based on the specific piece of business.
There is significant earning potential for someone who can develop and maintain a strong book of business.
Why This Opportunity?
You won't be selling a commodity. You'll be working with clients to help create conferences, meetings and events where the production quality directly affects the attendee experience.
You'll have the support of an experienced production team while having the opportunity to build and own meaningful client relationships.
If you're already in the event industry, you understand the opportunity. If you're an excellent salesperson who wants to break into the event industry, we're willing to teach you the business.
Interested?
If you are a motivated sales professional who enjoys building relationships, winning business and being part of successful live events, we'd like to hear from you.
