The Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB) seeks an Engineering Supervisor to lead our Generation Engineering Department. As the supervisor of a team of engineering, planning, and surveying staff, you will lead the team’s efforts to plan and implement essential work in support of ongoing operations and improvement projects at EWEB’s hydroelectric and thermal power generation facilities. Working alongside operations staff and expert consultants, the team plays a central role in a wide variety of projects that maintain and improve the reliability of existing and new power generation systems, dams, water conveyance and flow control systems, fish passage systems, and associated ancillary facilities. This position provides an opportunity to work with a team of talented civil, mechanical, electrical, and project management specialists to develop creative solutions to technical, environmental, and regulatory challenges in a team-oriented and collaborative work environment. The Generation Engineering team frequently interacts with many other EWEB business units in multi-disciplinary efforts during both the planning and implementation phases of diverse and unique projects with long lasting impact. In this role, you will be providing critical support on a daily basis towards EWEB’s core mission to provide safe and reliable electric service for our community.
Candidates for the Generation Engineering Supervisor position at EWEB must demonstrate strong skills in:
Engineering: Experience in planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of engineered systems. Skilled in complex problem solving.
Power Generation: Experience in providing engineering support for existing and new power generation systems, particularly hydroelectric and/or thermal power generation.
Water Storage, Conveyance, and Flow Control: Familiarity with dams, canals, tunnels, penstocks, flow control gates and valves, and ancillary facilities.
Asset Management: Familiarity with the development and use of asset management tools for prioritized upkeep of major infrastructure systems.
Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with federal, state, and local laws related to power generation.
Risk Management: Understanding of risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
Staff Engagement: Experience setting goals, distributing workload, coordinating training, evaluating performance, and resolving conflicts.
Communication: Professional written and verbal communication skills for project management, reporting, and public outreach.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The annual salary range for this position is $140,482 - $187,310.
The starting pay offered will be established based on multiple factors, including the successful candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, education, and relevant experience, as well as internal equity. Consistent with EWEB’s compensation philosophy, it is not customary to place individuals at the high end of the salary range at the time of hire. Compensation decisions are made holistically to support fair, consistent, and equitable pay practices, considering the specific circumstances of each position and candidate.

LOCATION
This position is based in Eugene, Oregon and has been approved for a hybrid work arrangement. The selected candidate must live in the state of Oregon.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Candidates who do not meet all of the minimum qualifications, but whose application materials demonstrate the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to be successful in the position are encouraged to apply. Experience: Eight (8) years of progressively responsible work experience in a directly related functional field which includes four (4) years of direct supervision in a multi-functional work environment. An equivalent combination of professional, senior, lead, or project management experience may satisfy the supervision requirement.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
Professional license or registration: Professional Engineer (PE) license required. Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate recommended.
Oregon driver license required: Yes
