- Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator
Description
Under the direction of the Emergency Management Coordinator, assists in; community emergency planning, hazard mitigation planning, emergency preparedness, emergency response, and disaster recovery operations. Assists in project management of various projects with community partners and stakeholders. Assists in communicating plans for emergencies to key community officials and ensures that they are notified of emergency situations. Serves in an on-call capacity for emergency and disaster response to aid Midland County Emergency Management in response efforts or fill the role in the absence of the Emergency Management Coordinator.
Requirements
Associate’s Degree with some coursework in emergency management or planning, public safety, disaster response or a related field and two years of related experience. Valid Michigan driver’s License. Coursework completed in NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 and 800 as required by state and federal mandates. CPR and First Aid certification. Knowledge of the principles and practices of emergency management.
Ability to instruct and coordinate with others regarding emergency preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery planning concepts. Ability to work with various governmental and public entities and citizens, deal effectively with the public in situations of a difficult and sometimes volatile nature, interactive with other individuals during emergency situations, maintain accurate and detailed records, and follow applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
