- Communications Supervisor
Description
Individuals in this position positively supervise and motivate subordinate staff. Tasks include but are not limited to supporting work projects assigned to Lead Dispatchers; scheduling employees to ensure proper staffing levels are maintained; hiring and onboarding new team members; providing coaching support for the trainee(s) and trainer(s); and ensuring that standards of service are maintained in accordance with the mission and vision of the Summit County 911 Center. Supervisors are responsible for performance management, including work performance, coaching, mentoring, developing Performance Improvement Plans (PIP), and implementing corrective action for performance and conduct issues. Additionally, supervisors perform the duties of a 911 Dispatcher as required. Supervisors must demonstrate a high level of emotional intelligence with regard to conflict resolution and mediation skills; consistency when engaging with others; personal integrity and sensitivity to others; and administering constructive feedback while promoting a cooperative and team atmosphere.

Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent. Some college preferred.
- Minimum three years of 911 dispatching experience.
- Minimum of two years of relevant supervisory / leadership experience.
- EMD/EMD-Q certification.
- CPR / AED certified.
- Familiar with NIMS / NIMS certified.
- Successful completion of APCO Supervisory course within the first year of employment.
