Job Description:
Budget Title: Student Activities Associate (SL-2)
Salary: $52,000 - $55,000
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Director of Campus Activities with the department's strategic plan and the development/implementation of programs, workshops, and activities that strengthen student development, leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Plan, develop, and promote co-curricular programs, activities, and events that provide a welcoming campus environment and support a diverse student population.
- Serve as liaison with internal and external clients on all matters relating to program and/or department activities.
- Support campus-wide initiatives including B-Welcome and Stress-Free Bing. Responsibilities include marketing efforts, scheduling events, collaboration with campus partners, and program development.
- Assist the Director of Campus Activities in supporting the Graduate Student Organization (GSO) to include collaborative outreach and programming for graduate students. Responsibilities include data analysis of graduate student engagement, regular communication with the GSO and program development as identified.
- Develop and implement University-wide traditions and annual events in collaboration with campus partners. Responsibilities include supporting and creating campus spirit initiatives to strengthen student engagement that foster community and institutional spirit.
- Support the YS Kim Korean Student Center student leadership team. Responsibilities include bi-weekly meetings with student leadership and programming support for the Korean Center.
- Coordinate and administer the collection, compilation, and analysis of program activity data; prepares comprehensive program reports and evaluation summaries.
- Coordinate use of the B-Engaged student engagement software to create and publicize programs and events, track student participation, and ensure compliance with divisional and university guidelines.
- Oversee the Student Organization Recognition Committee and the Campus Life Fee Event Grants process.
- Provide support for other divisional priorities and initiatives beyond the scope of department, as requested.
- May coordinate, administer and monitor social media presence and program outreach.
- Available to work evenings and weekends.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of student development and frameworks.
- Ability to recognize and protect confidential information and exercise judgment, tact, and diplomacy in handling sensitive information and situations.
- Ability to work as a contributing member in a team-oriented environment, successfully interacting with internal and external colleagues and partners.
- Ability to successfully interact with individuals/groups from an array of backgrounds, identities, experiences, and communication styles.
- Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time, meeting assigned deadlines.
- Initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills.
- Attention to detail and follow-up skills.
- Customer service skills and phone and email etiquette.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
- At least one (1) year of related professional or paraprofessional work experience
- Available to work evenings and weekends
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Student Affairs Administration, Higher Education, or related field
- Previous experience with event planning
- Previous experience in higher education
