Build Relationships That Make a Difference
At Another Source, we believe recruiting is about more than filling positions, it's about building lasting partnerships that help organizations thrive.
Founded in 1991, Another Source is a second-generation, women-owned recruiting firm that partners with colleges, universities, nonprofit organizations, and select corporate clients to identify exceptional talent. Rather than taking a transactional approach, we become an extension of our clients' teams, combining strategic recruiting expertise with outstanding relationship management to deliver an exceptional hiring experience.
We're growing and have created a new opportunity for a Business Development Director to expand our partnerships within higher education. If you're someone who naturally builds trust, loves connecting people, enjoys strategic conversations, and thrives on creating long-term client relationships, we'd love to meet you.
The Opportunity
As Business Development Director, you'll build meaningful partnerships with colleges, universities, and other mission-driven organizations. You'll begin with an established list of strategic prospects while also generating opportunities through conferences, referrals, and your professional network.
Success in this role isn't measured by one-time transactions. It's about transforming an initial search engagement into long-term institutional partnerships spanning departments, campuses, and years.
Working closely with our recruiting and strategy teams, you'll serve as a trusted advisor who understands client priorities, anticipates hiring needs, and helps organizations solve talent challenges before they become urgent.
Location: We are a remote team, however residency in Texas or Florida is required for this role and portfolio.
Travel: Approximately 20% for client meetings and industry conferences.
What You'll Do

Proactively prospect and cultivate new relationships through strategic outreach, industry research, networking, conferences, referrals, and targeted account development.
Build long-term relationships with hiring leaders and executive stakeholders.
Expand business within new, existing, and former client organizations.
Identify future hiring opportunities across departments and campuses.
Develop strategic account plans to deepen institutional partnerships.
Generate new opportunities through referrals, networking, and relationship building.
Serve as a Trusted Advisor
Understand each client's organizational priorities, culture, and hiring goals.
Maintain regular communication with clients throughout active searches.
Partner with internal recruiting teams to deliver an exceptional client experience.
Help navigate communication challenges and strengthen client relationships.
Conduct quality check-ins during searches to ensure client satisfaction.
Drive Business Growth
Maintain a healthy pipeline of opportunities.
Track relationship activity and account development within CRM.
Share market intelligence and hiring trends with leadership.
Represent Another Source at higher education conferences and professional associations.
Confidently network, initiate conversations, and create meaningful follow-up opportunities.
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
Experience working in higher education or selling professional services into higher education is required. You understand how colleges and universities make decisions, build consensus, and establish long-term partnerships.

Exceptional communication skills, you are a true "super communicator" who builds trust quickly and creates authentic relationships.
Experience engaging and influencing executive-level leaders.
Strong emotional intelligence, curiosity, and active listening skills.
Ability to identify opportunities, think strategically, and develop long-term client relationships.
Comfortable networking, attending conferences, and initiating conversations with new contacts.

Expanding relationships across departments and institutions.
Generating repeat business and referrals.
Maintaining a healthy, predictable business pipeline.
Partnering seamlessly with recruiting teams to deliver exceptional client experiences.
Contributing directly to Another Source's continued growth and reputation.
Compensation: $85,000 base salary plus uncapped commission. Successful Business Development Directors can likely expect first-year on-target earnings (OTE) of $120,000–$140,000, with second-year OTE typically reaching $135,000–$160,000+ as client relationships mature. There is no cap on commission earnings, providing significant upside for high performers.
