SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Aquatics Supervisor, the Aquatics Coordinator will work closely
with the Aquatics Supervisor to operate the Aquatic Division. This position generally works Monday through
Friday, and is expected to work occasional evenings, weekends, and special events. This position will provide
exemplary service to the employees, citizens of the City of Fruita, and the patrons that utilize the facilities and
services

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has general supervisory responsibilities for Water Safety Instructors, Water Aerobics
Instructors, Coaches, Swim Lesson Instructors, Lifeguards, and Pool Managers.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum of two (2) years of teaching swimming lessons.
Previous experience in a related position or working in the recreation field is required. Bachelor's degree at an
accredited college or university with major course work in Recreation Administration, a closely related field, or
the equivalent combination of experience and education preferred. Experience in customer service. Must have
excellent computer skills including Microsoft _Office. Knowledge of Sportsman Recreation Software is preferred.
SPECIAL LICENSES, REGISTRATION, ORCERTIFICATES
American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid, Lifeguard, and Water Safety Instructor, LGI (or the ability to obtain
within 6 months of hire). AFO (Aquatic Facility Operator) or CPO (Certified Pool Operator) or the ability to
obtain within 6 months of hire. Certified American Red Cross LGIT or WSIT (or the ability to obtain one within
one year of hiring).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the principles and practices of community recreation.
Knowledge of the sociological and psychological needs of various groups participating in recreation programs
and activities.
Knowledge of promotional and public relations techniques.
Knowledge of facility management methods and practices.
Skill in personal computers, computerized recreation administration programs, and various application
programs.
Ability to oversee part-time and seasonal staff.
Ability to assign, coordinate, direct, and evaluate the work of subordinates.
Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to maintain strong customer service skills while working with a substantial portion of the public.
Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks with limited supervision.
Ability to represent the City of Fruita and Recreation Staff professionally.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS OFTHEPOSITION
Ability to work a flexible schedule, split shifts, evenings, and weekends assigned for the position.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion and participate in vigorous fitness activities.
Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation as this position works with vulnerable
populations.
Regular attendance is an essential function of this position to ensure continuity
