- Advocate Supervisor
Description
The Advocate Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and support to CASA volunteer Advocates and Peer
Coordinators. The Advocate Supervisor I ensure that children involved with CASA receive sound advocacy and
early permanency planning. This position primarily focuses on necessary program support, Advocate training,
supervision, and retention efforts as well as some grant writing and grant reporting / management.
REPORTS TO: Executive Director.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
(Some duties will be performed as a team working cooperatively with other Program staff.)
ADVOCATE RECRUITMENT & TRAINING:
1. Complete CASA volunteer pre-service training.
2. Attend curriculum trainings when available.
3. Interview potential volunteers interested in attending pre-service training and maintain follow-up communication.
4. Maintain files, and update all new and current CASA contact information.
5. Serve as a primary facilitator for at least one 30-hour pre-service training, annually.
6. Assist in supporting the Peer Coordinator Program.
7. Scheduling, coordinating, and sharing responsibility of pre-service, in-service and continuing education training sessions as requested.
ADVOCATE/COURT SUPERVISION & REPORTING:
1. Track case management/volunteer management efforts in Optima database, including inputting and updating organization and individual contact information.
2. Supervise cases in one or more courts including attending court hearings, intervention conferences and other necessary meetings pertaining to dependency neglect cases.
3. Provide assistance and consultation for volunteers as needed/requested.
4. Review new cases and assign appropriate volunteers, in consultation with other staff supervisors/Executive Director.
5. Maintain new and closed case files and CASA paperwork.
6. Review volunteer court reports.
7. Maintain quarterly communication with CASA volunteers assigned to supervising.
8. Assist in weekly, monthly, and annual reporting as requested.
9. Appear for volunteers at court dates, hearings, and meetings when necessary.
10. Assist with filing court reports and picking up discovery as needed.
11. Assist in identifying and training advocates to become Peer Coordinators.
12. Oversee up to 10 Peer coordinators and/or 30 CASA Advocates directly.
13. Consult and advise Executive Director of any issues that may arise or are brought to attention by an Advocate or Program partners.
EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENT:
1. Ability to navigate humbly though conflict to assist and support staff, court functions, and program operations.
2. Assist with hiring new employees as needed.
3. Provide direct supervision and coaching of office volunteers.
PROGRAM ACTIVITIES:
1. Attend workshops and conferences for professional development as appropriate.
2. Assist and collaborate with CASA staff and volunteers to promote program by creating opportunities for program awareness in the community.
3. Represent CASA at outreach events as requested.
4. Other duties as assigned by Executive Director.
ADMINISTRATION

6. Maintain a calendar of court dates and inform volunteers of dates in a timely manner.
7. Alert Advocates immediately after a new court date has been scheduled or continued. Send out reminders each month to all advocates for the following month and maintain calendar of court date.
8. Appear for volunteers at court dates, hearings, and meetings when necessary.
9. Review and file all court reports with the court and interested parties, pick up and distribute discovery to advocates.
10. Attend staff meetings, planning sessions, retreats and assist in the evaluation of the Program.
11. Assist in communicating Program planning, compliance, and training opportunities with volunteers.
12. Provide office coverage as assigned by the Executive Director.
13. Assist with answering phones and take messages, check voicemail regularly.
14. Some out of town travel and evening and weekend work are required.
15. Participate in performance evaluations of this position and/or peer evaluations as directed by the Executive Director.
16. Grant writing and reporting.

Requirements
- QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in human services related field or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Demonstrate strong skills in public speaking, organization, collaboration, interpersonal relationships, trainings and small group facilitation.
- An understanding of volunteers, child abuse and neglect, families in crisis, child development, recruitment, and knowledge of court appointed special advocacy and other social service skills preferred.
- Knowledge of court appointed special advocacy and other social service skills preferred.
- Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Must complete CASA Advocate training within six months of hire.
- Background check will be conducted.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Grant writing and grant reporting / management experience.
- Understanding of child abuse and neglect, families in crisis, and child development.
- Knowledge of court appointed special advocacy and other social service skills preferred.
- Demonstrate initiative in supporting the Program’s mission and philosophy.
- Comfortable working in diverse settings.
