Manager, Donor Retention Marketing — U.S.-Based Programs

Location: Full-time remote with East Coast hours

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people survive, recover, and rebuild their lives. IRC seeks a marketer to retain donors who support the IRC's work to resettle refugees in the United States. Working with our network of local and regional offices, this position will thoughtfully integrate our domestic and international work to inspire meaningful giving in support of IRC’s global mission.

The role is part of the Mass Markets USA program, which is responsible for raising $70+ million in unrestricted revenue annually in the U.S. market and plays a meaningful strategic role in the creation of IRC’s brand, awareness, and support for its advocacy goals.

The ideal candidate for this role is an experienced, highly collaborative marketer who cares deeply about humanitarian causes. As a key member of the Mass Markets USA team, you will partner with IRC's 28 domestic (U.S.-based) resettlement offices to produce and deliver integrated email, direct mail, and other communications that inspire donors and encourage giving. This position will be responsible for developing coherent donor journeys for supporters located near a resettlement office, including uplifting local engagement opportunities and championing IRC's on-the-ground domestic work with IRC supporters.

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required

Work Experience:

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in email marketing and/or digital fundraising, including production and execution of email campaigns (nonprofit or digital agency experience a plus)
  • Exceptional organizational skills and project management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively and adaptively in a highly collaborative, interdependent team environment
  • Has a consistent track record developing and writing copy that inspires a strong and engaged supporter journeys

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

  • Loves collaboration and brainstorming and can work well with colleagues across the organization
  • Is passionate about digital marketing, as well as our cause, and seeks to help transform the lives of people affected by humanitarian crises
  • Is an outstanding writer with a proven ability to produce content that sways hearts and minds and encourages people to support our work
  • Crafts materials that are focused on cultivation and retention, demonstrating the impact of a donor’s generosity
  • Email marketing platform experience is required, Pardot experience preferred
  • Shown CRM experience, Salesforce experience preferred
  • Strong practical understanding of and experience with using HTML and CSS for email coding
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on attention to detail and the ability to catch even the most minor of errors
  • Ability to track, analyze and summarize performance results
  • Proficiency in Google Docs, Sheets, and Excel, as well as experience using project management platforms. experience with Box preferred.
  • Experience with SMS program execution and production is a plus
  • Is a creative problem solver who’s able to navigate complexity and ambiguity to get to the heart of and cultivate a phenomenal story

Working Environment:

This role is remote full-time with East Coast hours and eligible for U.S. residents only. Applicants must have a home or alternate workspace from which they can effectively complete their work from during regularly scheduled hours. Some travel (e.g., once every 2-3 months) is required to meet with resettlement offices periodically, and to meet at off-site retreats and other meetings.
