Job Summary:
The Food Safety Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Food Safety Manager in ensuring compliance to customer, local, state and federal regulatory requirements. The Food Safety Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Food Safety Manager in all aspects of the food safety programs. Food Safety Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining all departmental programs including but not limited to Supplier Approval Program, HACCP, Food Safety Program, Food Defense, BRC/SQF, Quality Specification, Regulatory Compliance, Allergen Program, and cGMP’s. Candidate shall be well organized and communicate effectively with internal team, regulatory agencies and suppliers. The Food Safety Coordinator also assists the Food Safety Manager with continuous improvement projects along with other miscellaneous tasks.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Trains new staff.
Monitors daily activities to ensure that accuracy, customer service and quality standards are maintained.
Troubleshoots and resolves workflow issues.
Duties/Responsibilities:
A minimum of an undergraduate degree or commensurate experience (preference will be given to those with degrees in relevant field)
Experience in a food manufacturing, RTE, or USDA facility preferred
Knowledge of GMP’s, HACCP, HARPC, USDA-AMS and FDA manufacturing regulations preferred
Ability to evaluate and develop processes, specifications and preventative controls for ongoing quality assurance
Assist with implementation and overseeing a comprehensive food safety program.
Assist with implementation and overseeing a comprehensive analytical product and environmental sampling program.
Assist with implementation and overseeing a comprehensive sanitation validation program.
Assist with creation and implementation of all trainings regarding food safety across all operations.
Assist the Food Safety Manager in maintaining full compliance with the GFSI standard Primus and Global GAP audit schemes.
Assist our customers with their visitation of our operations.
Conduct Food Safety investigations and recommend corrective actions. When directed, then implement those corrective actions in the operation(s).
Required Skills/Abilities:
Bilingual English/Spanish
Comprehensive knowledge of FSMA law
Comprehensive knowledge of general manufacturing food safety regulations and standards
Demonstrated leadership skills, critical, analytical and problem-solving skills
Working knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations in the agricultural industry including land and water resources
Highly developed interpersonal and observational skills
Highly professional personal and work ethics and level of integrity
Proficient computer knowledge, experience with MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, and Powerpoint
Ability to understand complex and ever-changing laws and regulations and apply it to company operations as needed.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
The ability to effectively work with all levels of staff and management
Physical Requirements:
Work requires standing and working in refrigerated production areas. Also need to perform office work which requires prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer, climbing stairs and other typical office duties. Must be able to occasionally lift or move items up to 50 lbs
