The Office of International Enrollment Management at Duke Kunshan University seeks a talented marketing/enrollment professional to join a friendly, creative, global team. Our new marketing manager will be based at Duke Kunshan's campus, located in Kunshan, China, just outside of Shanghai.
Duke Kunshan University is a four-year undergraduate liberal arts and sciences and research-oriented university. Founded by Duke University in the U.S., this joint-venture university recently celebrated it's 10th anniversary this year. Now is a great time to be part of an international institution that attracts students from around the world who are seeking an elite U.S.-style education in two of the worlds most dynamic economies, China and the U.S. Upon graduation, students are awarded two degrees - one from Duke Kunshan University and one from Duke University.
A compelling candidate will have a successful history in marketing, communications and social media work. The candidate should have a superb command of English. Chinese language proficiency is not required, but would be a plus.
Requirements
Essential Duties
1. Develop and refine the university’s value proposition for international students and communicate it effectively through marketing strategies and tactics to increase brand awareness/reputation and support student recruitment in key global markets outside of China. Work closely with the Director of International Enrollment to ensure alignment and consistency of student facing messages. Track marketing activities and evaluate their impact on student recruitment objectives.
2. Develop and execute an annual communications strategy and calendar to include several ongoing email campaigns to students and stakeholders.
3. Develop and design content for promotional publications and materials, such as brochures, web and video.
4. Maintain international admissions section of the English website and CI/VI management. This will include developing content for new webpages that align with admissions and recruitment strategies.
5. Discover and showcase compelling stories that highlight the university’s achievements, events, and opportunities. Collaborate with international enrollment colleagues to gather testimonials, successes, and experiences from current students and alumni to share with prospective students and stakeholders.
6. Oversee international market research, competitive movements and market trends.
7. Supervise Enrollment and Marketing Officer and up to two student workers in marketing related tasks including video production, market research, and social media coordination (marketing, listening and group management).
8. Liaise with the university communications department to leverage digital channels globally such as Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, Snapchat, Google SEM/SEO to support the organization’s image and positioning in the marketplace.
9. Working closely with the Senior Enrollment Officer, supervise the international student ambassador program by providing guidance and oversight, setting program objectives, reviewing communications, and attending regular ambassador meetings.
10. Serve as the lead on all admitted student yield events and communications. Serve as the primary event manager for the DKU Bound virtual program each Spring. Monitor and support social media group conversations for admitted students.
11. Support recruitment colleagues by representing Duke Kunshan University (DKU) at recruitment activities on and off campus including high school visits, counselor events, college fairs, student visits, campus tours, and professional conferences, as needed.
12. Review and evaluate undergraduate international candidates during the annual application reading and interviewing period, using holistic and contextual criteria to assess student achievements, potential, and fit.
13. Other tasks as assigned.
14. University employees' job responsibilities will continue to expand in scope and depth as the University grows in size and complexity in its programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor degree or certification in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or other relevant majors.
- 5 years+ work experience in marketing/communication and/or international student enrollment, with minimum 1 years’ experience at management level. Work experience in a digital field is a plus.
- Direct experience developing and tracking major communications campaigns.
- Fluency in written and spoken English with outstanding writing skills.
- Understanding of consumer insights, trends and cultures in international markets.
- Passion for marketing, student engagement, technology, and digital fields.
- Strong professional communication, strategic planning, and leadership skills with project management experience.
- Proven ability to handle pressure, be organized and meet strict deadlines.
- General understanding of HTML, web, social media, video production, and mobile tools.
