Reporting to the Senior Director, Head of Product Communications, the Senior Manager, Public Relations will lead communications for our rare disease products, GIVLAARI® (givosiran) and OXLUMO® (lumasiran). GIVLAARI is approved for the treatment of adults with acute hepatic porphyria (AHP), and OXLUMO is approved for the treatment of primary hyperoxaluria type 1 (PH1).

This individual will be part of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications team, a highly valued, high-performing, high-energy, fun and collaborative team within the company. This individual will work closely with a cross-functional teams including Commercial, Medical and Market Access, in developing communications strategies and tactics to key stakeholders, including: patient advocacy groups, patients and caregivers, media, HCPs, and employees. In addition, this individual will support the IRCC team with corporate initiatives driving our leadership position in RNAi therapeutics. The ideal candidate will have previously worked in a fast-paced corporate communications or agency environment and embrace the opportunity to be part of a growing biopharma at an exciting point in its history.This position is based in Cambridge, MA.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the development and execution of brand communications
  • Drive the development of disease awareness programs
  • Effectively manage relationships with PR firm and other vendors
  • Serve as a liaison for media
  • Develop a range of written communications, including press releases, strategic messaging and website content
  • Develop and drive social and digital media strategies and tactics
  • Effectively develop and execute grassroots efforts within the AHP and PH1 communities in close collaboration with Patient Advocacy
  • Take on assignments outside of the normal work day as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum holds a bachelor’s degree or higher degree
  • At least 5-8 years of demonstrated high-level professional knowledge and skills in the area of public relations in the biopharmaceutical industry
  • Experience working with patient advocacy organizations and community stakeholders
  • Product communications and product launch experience required. Rare disease experience a plus
  • Knowledge of the biopharmaceutical industry, with an understanding of FDA and other regulatory bodies that impact communications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work cooperatively in a team environment with a wide variety of company personnel
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to flourish in a fast-paced and demanding environment while maintaining a positive attitude and sense of humor
