Subject Matter Expert for the Women, Infants and Children Program. Provides technical guidance, consultation and training to staff/partners. Plans, implements and evaluates Public Health programs to ensure effective, evidence-based services aligned with county, state and federal Public Health standards and regulations. Supervisory duties include staff development and performance, collaboration, continuous quality improvement to advance community health outcomes. Monitors and manages unit/program budgets, grants, contracts and deliverables for fiscal accountability and compliance. Registered Dietician or BSN required, 3+ years supervisory experience preferred.
The Public Health Women Infant Child (WIC) Program Supervisor provides leadership, direction, and oversight for a diverse team of paraprofessional, professional, technical, and administrative support staff, as well as students and interns, in the delivery of a wide range of public health services for La Plata County. This position serves as the subject matter expert for the WIC Program, providing technical guidance, consultation, and training to staff and partners. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating assigned public health programs to ensure services are effective, evidence-based, and aligned with county, state, and federal public health standards and regulations.
Duties include overseeing daily operations; supporting staff development and performance; facilitating huddles, team meetings, and individual check-ins to communicate program updates and provide guidance and feedback; fostering collaboration and continuous quality improvement to advance community health outcomes; serving as the first point of escalation for personnel or customer concerns and resolving issues promptly; and monitoring and managing unit budgets, grants, contracts, and deliverables to ensure fiscal accountability and compliance.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications Required: Education and Experience:
Must hold a Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) or be a Registered Dietitian (RD)
Three (3) or more years of supervisory or program management experience, preferably in public health or WIC is preferred
Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification preferred; commitment to pursuing advanced maternal health strongly preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
Registered Dietitian or Registered Nurse by the State of Colorado is required within 30 days of hire
