JOB SUMMARY Responsible civilian position overseeing advance maintenance and repair of automotive/light truck and automotive type equipment, acting as a consultant for diagnostic work, vehicle repairs, and procedures, and providing leadership and direction to other members of the fleet maintenance facility. Oversees day-to-day operations on the garage floor. Must be able to perform the duties of Mechanic III. Must also furnish own tools required for this position. EOE/ADA

Requirements
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSES High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma required. Successful completion of an approved vocational school or technical training program, in addition to 10 years’ experience as a mechanic required. In lieu of completion of vocational school or technical training program, 11 years’ equivalent experience may be considered. ASE Engine Repair (A1), Automatic transmission/transaxle (A2), Manual drive train and axel (A3), Suspension and steering (A4), Brakes (A5), Electrical/Electronic (A6), Heating and air-conditioning (A7), and Engine Performance (A8) certifications preferred or required to be obtained within one year of appointment. All Certificates need to be maintained. Must maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License at all times. Unescorted CJIS clearance as authorized by FDLE is required.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS The physical abilities listed below are estimates of time spent during a typical workday to perform essential functions and responsibilities. Members in this position may be required to:

Walk up to 2 hours per day
Frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
Frequently bend, squat, reach, kneel or twist

20/40 vision (corrected/uncorrected)
Ability to hear conversation at a normal level (assisted or unassisted)
Ability to work shift work
Work in hazardous conditions
