The Zone Coordinator, Experiential Education serves as a member of the experiential team, based in Hendersonville. The Zone Coordinator will split their time between establishing/maintaining an ambulatory care practice site to precept students, and administrative responsibilities for the experiential education program.

The Zone Coordinator will fulfill faculty responsibilities in teaching, service, and scholarship with a distribution of effort (0.5 FTE) proportionate with administrative responsibilities in the School of Pharmacy. The Zone Coordinator will report to their department chair for those responsibilities.

Administrative Duties and Responsibilities (0.5 FTE):

● Serve as the lead for experiential education in the Hendersonville region

● Schedule students for introductory pharmacy practice experiences to fulfill curricular expectations and align with their career goals

● Schedule students for advanced pharmacy practice experiences (APPE) to align with their career goals

● Mentor fourth year pharmacy students in the Hendersonville zone through their APPE year

● Collaborate with the Assistant Dean, Experiential Education, and Assistant Dean, Hendersonville, to recruit and maintain partnerships in the region to fulfill experiential placements

● Collaborate with the experiential education team in planning, carrying out, and evaluating the experiential component of the doctor of pharmacy curriculum

● Collaborate with department chairs to fulfill experiential education needs through faculty workload and practice-related service/teaching

● Develop experiences for students, residents, and other learners to learn more about academic administrative roles

● Serve as a member of the Practice Experience Advisory Committee

● Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean, Experiential Education

Qualifications and Experience


● Doctor of Pharmacy degree and/or PhD in a pharmacy related area


● Licensed pharmacist or eligible for licensure in North Carolina

● PGY-1 residency training or 3-5 years experience as a practicing pharmacist
