About the Role
The Pre-College Initiatives Coordinator plays a critical role in the School of Engineering's mission to broaden participation in its engineering programs. Reporting to the Dean of the School of Engineering, the PCIC develops, implements, and manages transition programs for K-12 students, with a focus on fostering pathways into programs in the School of Engineering. This position requires creativity, strong organizational skills, and the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and community partners.
Key Responsibilities
Design and lead K-12 outreach programs and partnerships that expose students to engineering concepts and careers, including school visits, hands-on workshops, and STEM fairs.
Coordinate and execute initiatives, representing the School of Engineering at high school visits, college fairs, and community events.
Develop and manage summer bridge programs for incoming engineering students, supporting their academic and social transition to college.
Collaborate with faculty and staff to design age-appropriate, engaging STEM curriculum and activities for outreach and summer programs.
Build and maintain strong relationships with K-12 schools, school districts, community organizations, and other external stakeholders.
Track and report participation, outcomes, and impact of programs to inform continuous improvement and support grant reporting.
Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and funding opportunities related to pre-college initiatives.
Contribute to broader student services and retention initiatives within the School of Engineering as needed.
Requested Minimum Qualifications Education:
A Bachelor's degree in education, communications, marketing, or a related field from an accredited college or university is required.
Experience:
At least 2 years of experience in educational outreach, program coordination, student recruitment, or related work is required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with K-12 students and diverse communities.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Availability to work some evenings and weekends as required for events and programs.
Other Preferences for Consideration Preferred:
Experience with STEM curriculum development or teaching.
Knowledge of the engineering profession and academic pathways.
