Description
OverviewSun Country Golf House (SCGH) is an alliance of the leading golf-related
organizations in the regions of New Mexico and West Texas. The union of these associations makes SCGH the
epicenter for golf in our area. The Sun Country Amateur Golf Association (SCAGA) is the representative for the
United States Golf Association and the 16,000+ amateur golfers in region while the Sun Country PGA Section
(SCPGA) is the representative body for the Professional Golfers' Association of America and our Section's 230+ PGA
Professionals. The Amateur Association and PGA Section share the Sun Country Golf Foundation, which provides
programming and financial support in the areas of juniors, military, and diversity / inclusion. These three
organizations combine staffing and resources in the form of Sun Country Golf House. This allows the us to cast a
wider net of influence while furthering shared goals together. Educating the public on the organizations, providing
great tournament schedules for amateurs, PGA Professionals, and junior golfers, making New Mexico and West Texas
a national golfing destination, and generally improving and promoting the game of golf are the focuses of this
collaboration.
Experience Required
• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university strongly preferred.
• Experience in golf association administration preferred including an internship with a similar golf association.
• Knowledge of the Rules of Golf required.
• Knowledge of the World Handicap System and USGA Course Rating System preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, public speaking, and writing skills.
• Basic budgeting and financial management skills required.
• Interest in a career in golf association administration preferred.
• Familiarity with BlueGolf tournament software and the USGA Course Rating and World Golf Handicap
programs strongly preferred.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace programs required.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license required with the ability to drive company vehicles
including hauling a 15' trailer required.
Essential Responsibilities
To assist in the management and daily operations of the SCAGA's tournament programming, course rating, and
member club / golfer and volunteer relations across New Mexico & West Texas.
• Responsible for assisting in the planning and leading of SCAGA golf championships, play days, and USGA
qualifiers, including site selection / procurement, course marking and setup, equipment transportation, setup,
and tear-down, Rules officiating, pace of play enforcement, scoring, awards presentations, financial
management / budgeting, post-event wrap-up, etc.
• Create playing, educational, and social opportunities including casual play days, indoor golf leagues/events,
after work leagues, etc. to engage with new and developing demographics in golf with the goal of recruitment
to SCAGA membership.
• Create the schedule and coordinate with staff of the SCPGA and SCJG.
• Liaise with member club staff and leaders to communicate about SCAGA programs, services, and benefits.
• Assist in the supervision of up to two (2) USGA P.J. Boatwright Interns per season.
• Utilize BlueGolf tournament software to execute tournaments including creating tournaments for registration,
establishing starting times, scoring, re-pairing the field, awarding prizes, and communicating results.
• Assist in the recruitment, training, and management of volunteers.
• Educate members and volunteers on the Rules of Golf and USGA Course Rating System.
• Assist in management of the USGA Course Rating system including surveying courses, computing data,
scheduling volunteers, and staying on schedule within the 10-year cycle.
• Maintain an understanding of the Golf Handicap Information Network (GHIN), the Rules of Amateur Status,
and the Rules of Handicapping in relation to SCAGA tournaments and for our members and member clubs'
benefit.
• Be educated on and manage USGA amateur status responsibilities in relation to SCAGA tournaments and for
our members and member clubs.
• Identify revenue opportunities to support SCAGA tournaments and other business affairs including soliciting
and fulfilling corporate partnerships, paid advertisements, etc.
• Helping to communicate SCAGA services and to promote membership and golf in general to member clubs
and golfers.
• Additional duties as assigned by the Rules & Competitions Director and Executive Director.
Benefits
• This is a non-overtime-exempt full-time position paid $20.00 - $23.00/hr. depending on experience and
qualifications (equating to $41,600 - $47,840 annually) prior to 1.5x overtime pay.

• 40 hours paid vacation during years 1-2 of employment; 80 hours years 3-8; 120 hours years 9+. Additional
"comp" days off awarded for weekend / holiday work

• Mileage reimbursement for work-related travel when personal vehicle must be used (a rare occurrence)
