- Retail Supervisor
Description
This role creates the Edelman Fossil Park and Museum (EFM) experience for our guests by providing them with prompt service, quality products, and maintaining a relaxing retail environment. The Retail Supervisor is responsible for delivering an experience that entices our guests to become loyal museum members. You will also be training employees, assigning tasks, enforcing cleaning and safety standards, conducting meetings, maintaining inventory, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. This person will be a keyholder and responsible for opening/closing shifts, including retrieving change, creating deposits, and serving as a decision-maker within the retail setting.
Ensure Staff:
Greet all guests as they enter the store space.
Efficiently operate a point-of-sale system by conducting retail and the occasional admission transaction using a dedicated POS system
Familiarizing oneself with the content of the museum, committing to the mission, and be comfortable in speaking with guests about their experience
Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)
Familiarize oneself with the products sold within the museum store and be comfortable recommending or explaining details of products to guests
Assist in loss prevention by keeping the museum store clean, well-organized, and well-stocked at all times. Occasional inventory checks will be expected
Communicate customer feedback to supervisors and managers and recommend new items
Other duties as assigned by management and supervisors
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Serve as a Manager on Duty when managers are not present
Oversee the counting of cash drawers at opening and closing
Retrieve any needed change from a locked safe
Create deposits at the end of the day and submit to drop-safe
Batch all credit card transactions and confirm deposit entries are accurate
Securing the closure of both cafe and retail spaces at the end of the business day
Perform refunds and adjustments to a guest’s order
Oversee inventory management of all storage spaces
Update displays and merchandise areas when necessary
Oversee shipments for online store
Maintain a working knowledge of information regarding products in the store and general museum information
Requirements
Skills
Previous work experience in a supervisory position as a Supervisor or Retail Associate with minimum of 2 years experience
Flexibility to work various shifts
Basic math skills
Ability to gauge guests' preferences
Excellent communication skills
High school diploma; relevant training is a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 per hour
Physical Setting: Retail Store
Schedule: 8-10 hour shift, typically starting at 8/8:30am through 5/5:30pm
Store Operating Hours:
Sunday - Saturday 10am-5pm
