Description
The Unified Government Parks and Recreation Department is excited to announce an opportunity for a professional, highly responsible, and accountable person to oversee the operations of the Sport’s Division. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing equitable sports opportunities that are aligned with the Parks and Recreation Department’s mission, vision and values. The candidate plans, organizes, supervises and promotes recreation services and operations for youth and adult leagues. Work collaboratively with department staff and all other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and provide guidance to department staff by training, hiring, scheduling and leading employees and volunteers needed for efficient delivery of community centers and athletic activities.
Utilize Civic Rec system to accurately schedules the use of facilities by program participants
Oversees sports equipment inventory and develops a schedule for replacement of necessary equipment and work with Maintenance Division to identify and address needs related to playing surfaces, equipment, etc.
Prepare, submit and analyze sports records and reports including sports inventory reports, invoices, attendance reports, performance evaluations, bid specifications, purchase orders, budget documents, revenue reports, and annual reports.
Day-to-day operations- emails, website updates, practice decisions (weather cancellations, if required), marketing and social media guidance for sports related activities.
Respond to requests and inquiries from City staff and the public as it relates to sports programming.
Represent UGPRD at civic and/or professional engagements and events as needed
Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management or Parks and Recreation Program Administration and two years of related program experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Two to Five years of related management experience preferred.
Proven ability to work both independently and within a team structure in a fast-paced environment.
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
