The Commodity Sourcing Specialist is responsible for working with commercial leaders to capitalize on new business and scope expansion opportunities. This position collaborates with the Commercial Leaders, ITO Manager, and Sourcing Managers to screen each new RFQ, align to the best overall supplier partner(s) while maximizing net sales and profits on new business opportunities. The position is responsible for meeting all critical project due dates. Upon project award, the Commodity Sourcing Specialists will work closely with Vertical Sourcing Leaders on Supplier Selection and Buyers on Project Implementation.
Primary Duties:
Work with Commercial Leaders and Technical Leader to screen new business opportunities, prioritizing those opportunities with higher likelihood of success due to customer relationship, commodity expertise, customer RFQ intent and realistic completion timelines.
Ensure proper technical review is complete prior to engaging in sourcing efforts. Verify customer drawings and specifications are available. Verify customer demand, service requirements, and quality requirements are documented. Verify any restrictions on country of origin or incumbent suppliers. Attend applicable Project Kick Off Calls.
Meet project timelines, establish and distribute the quoting workbook. Distribute RFQs and Review Vendor Quotations.
Identify, onboard, and develop new sources of supply to help improve competitiveness and capacity for assigned commodities.
Review all best cost sourcing quotes and comments prior to project completion. Verify alternate sources provided for Unapproved Vendors and Parts with Deviations. Verify Best Cost Country sources were used. Effectively communicate all deviations, Developing Suppliers, and MOQ issues. Attend all applicable Project Wrap-Up Calls.
Ensure export compliance on drawings and technical data.
Collaborate with Vertical Sourcing Leaders to ensure strategic alignment of new business opportunities with overall Commodity Management strategies, including supplier development efforts.
Collaborate with Vertical Sourcing Leaders on Supplier Selection for New Program Implementations. Participate in supplier award process, including e-auctions and contract negotiations.
Analyze customer feedback and communicate strengths and weaknesses within the supply chain to Commodity Management and Supplier Development.
Build strong supplier partnerships through site visits, lunch & learns and capabilities overviews
Assist in Global Sourcing initiatives where required (Marketing Fund Campaign, Volume Rebate Initiatives and Vendor Consolidation efforts)
Qualifications:
Efficient use of a PC, including superior skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and the ability to effectively communicate via email, telephone and web-based presentations.
Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills required.
Experience and product knowledge within at least one of the following industries: PVF (Pipe, Valve, & Fitting), Electrical/Electronic components, Machine & Fabrication, or Fasteners
Experience negotiating costs, lead time and minimums.
Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
