Description
Top level Commercial HVAC firm in New Mexico is seeking a Mechanical Division Supervisor to oversee on-site plumbing and HVAC installations, repairs, and maintenance across multiple projects, managing crews of journeymen and apprentices. This role is responsible for interpreting blueprints and specifications, ensuring compliance with building codes and safety regulations, coordinating material procurement and jobsite logistics, and providing leadership and mentorship to field personnel.
The ideal candidate has 5+ years of industry experience, a valid journeyman license, and strong knowledge of plumbing and mechanical systems. Possession of a valid MM-98 Plumbing/Mechanical Qualifying Party Contractor’s License, or the ability to obtain one within six months, is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Directing, scheduling, and training plumbing / HVAC teams on commercial sites to meet deadlines.
- Technical Execution: Reading, interpreting, and executing blueprints, schematics, Estimating for commercial plumbing and HVAC systems and maintenance programs.
- Installation & Maintenance: Installing and repairing high-level commercial fixtures, piping (copper, steel, cast iron, PVC), pumps, and backflow assemblies. Proficient in the many different HVAC systems maintenance, installations and service calls/ troubleshooting.
- Code Compliance: Ensuring all work meets local, state, and federal building regulations and safety standards.
- Coordination: Liaising with project managers, general contractors, property managers and inspectors for scheduling and project updates.
- Logistics & Quality Control: Ordering materials, inspecting work for quality, and troubleshooting field issues.
Requirements
Required/Preferred Qualifications:
- MM-98 Contractor’s license or ability to obtain one within six months of hire required.
- License/Experience: Valid Journeyman Plumbing Mechanical License (or equivalent) with a minimum of 4-5 years of commercial experience.
- HVAC experience is preferred.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and mentor crew members.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of commercial plumbing and HVAC systems, code, and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA).
- Tools/Tech: Proficiency with hand/power tools and digital tools for scheduling/time tracking.
Physical Ability: The ability to lift 50lbs, stand/walk for 60-80% of the day, and work in awkward, cramped positions. Constantly bend, kneel, crawl, and climb ladders, often while handling tools and pipes in extreme, uncomfortable temperatures.
Work Environment: The employee will be expected to work outside in various weather conditions and must have suitable clothing conducive to the work environment. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and humid conditions; extreme hot and cold; high precarious places. In accordance with federal and state laws and applicable safety regulations, employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration and noise levels typically associated with the power tools and equipment used for the position.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, exempt/salary position. Winter hours are 6:30am to 3:30pm (from Labor Day to Memorial Day) and summer hours from 6am to 2:30pm. Mandatory safety meetings are held on the third Thursday of every month at 6:00 a.m., meetings are mandatory for all field managers and employees. Availability to work over 40 hours a week is required.
