Purpose
This role contributes to NFPA's Mission, Vision, and Strategic initiatives developing plans and overseeing Marketing projects across a broad spectrum of disciplines. As a Project Manager, you will work closely with internal stakeholders to develop project deliverables and meet overall goals within set budgets and timelines. You will communicate and collaborate cross-departmentally to ensure that our projects align and support company objectives and milestones. You must possess excellent communication skills and make judgments based on experience. The ideal candidate will be excited to roll up their sleeves and help support a dynamic and diverse group of marketing professionals. The Project Manager plays a substantial role in the success of NFPA Marketing projects and the team.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Management
- Provide high-level support and project planning including project initiation, development, testing, deployment, optimizations, and retrospectives to the marketing team projects and campaigns.
- Organizes project meetings including daily scrums, status documents, sprint planning, and backlog refinement for Marketing Team as requested.
- Tracks progress against milestones, budgetary guidelines, and other key performance indicators and, as needed, prepares reports to senior management and divisional leads.
- Informs strategic planning and enhancing overall marketing process, technology, and workflow.
- Assesses team capacities and bandwidth and reprioritizes projects and tasks for all project members, with input from the Senior Manager, Marketing.
- Identifies, documents, and provides recommendations to the team in the management, mitigation, and resolution of project, and team-related issues, dependencies, and risks as needed.
- Route projects through technical, proofing and legal approvals.
- Understands and applies critical thinking to existing and new marketing systems, software, and processes.
- On occasion lead and plan organization-wide projects and enhancements, including project initiation, development, deployment, optimizations and communications. i.e. Related to Project Management and process improvements.
Contract & Budgeting
- Assists in routing contracts and agency SOW to legal, business owner and final approver. Maintains contract records with agency/third parties and management of all SOW regarding external consultants, vendors and/or agencies. Assists in agency selection, when applicable, review and maintenance of SOW.
- Produces and maintains overall marketing budget with senior management and divisional lead including managing day to day budget, tracking spending trends from third parties, and processing invoices for payment.
- Informs strategic budget planning along with other Sr. Managers, and Management.
Communication & Collaboration
- Creates, manages, and distributes project communications artifacts like plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Collaborates with the project team, third-party resources, and divisional business groups.
- Provides feedback, recommendations, project updates, and encouragement to team members.
- Creates and shares departmental updates with the senior management, divisional leads, and other internal key stakeholders
- Works within the team, as well as cross-functionally, to establish alignment on and document process flows, continually assessing for efficiencies.
- Bachelor's degree in business or marketing or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project management and a prior marketing experience.

- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines under pressure
- Meeting facilitation skills to provide project overviews, decisions made, recaps, and follow-up actions needed
- Experience managing traditional waterfall and Agile projects
- Budget management skills and proficiency
- Ability to foster relationships with the project team, third-party resources, and divisional business groups
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Programs
- Experience with project management tools
- Experience with Miro (preferred not required)
- Experience working with digital asset management systems (preferred not required)
- Understanding of how marketing processes work together and affect each other
- Understanding of the customer journey and focus on positive customer experience
- Experience working in a remote environment and developing relationships, rapport and trust through a computer screen

Within the range, individual pay is determined by many factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
