- Internship Supervisor (Non-Tenure, 9-month, Rank-Instructor)
Description
The University of West Alabama invites applications for the position of Internship Supervisor within the College of Education. The Internship Supervisor will provide direct supervision, guidance, and feedback to assigned teacher interns completing clinical internship requirements. This position ensures compliance with all institutional, state, and edTPA expectations and supports continuous professional growth for teacher candidates. The 9-month Instructor position will be compensated according to the established university Instructor pay rate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide ongoing edTPA support, monitoring, and standards-aligned feedback to interns.
- Verify completion of all required edTPA and internship components and maintain documentation as required by the University.
- Establish and maintain professional, collaborative relationships with cooperating teachers and P–12 partners.
- Review and provide feedback on GoReact video submissions within 48 hours of receipt.
- Respond in a timely manner to daily communication from interns, cooperating teachers, and university personnel.
- Provide constructive, evidence-based feedback that supports reflective practice and growth.
- Communicate student progress, concerns, and compliance issues to program supervisors and faculty.
- Participate in required meetings, training, and professional development related to internship supervision.
Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree in the instructional/content area of supervision.
- Comprehensive understanding of edTPA structure, expectations, and evaluation processes.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills and the ability to provide timely, detailed feedback.
Preferred:
- Experience mentoring, supervising, evaluating, or coaching teacher interns.
- Proficiency with GoReact or similar video-based assessment platforms.
Work Conditions / Campus Requirement:
This position requires on-campus work at the University of West Alabama. Limited travel to partner schools may be required. Some virtual meetings, communications, or feedback delivery may occur, but regular on-site presence is required to perform the essential duties of this role.
