Description
Stark State College is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Grant Writer/Grant Management Coordinator. t is responsible for leading grant writing efforts and supporting grant management activities that advance Stark State College’s strategic priorities. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Grants, this position focuses primarily on researching, developing, and submitting competitive grant proposals (approximately 75% of the role), while also coordinating post-award grant management, reporting, and compliance activities (approximately 25%).
This role plays a key part in stewarding relationships with funders and community partners, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and maintaining accurate grant and financial documentation.
Typical Hours of Work: Typical hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on our Main Campus in North Canton.
Annual Pay: $57,501 - $74,752, commensurate with experience.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong writing, organizational, and collaboration skills and contribute to foundation, corporate, and government grant initiatives while promoting best practices in grant development and administration.
Typical Responsibilities Include:
- Research, write, prepare, and submit competitive grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and other funding sources, with primary responsibility for proposal development and narrative writing.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather program information, data, and supporting materials for grant proposals.
- Assist the Director of Strategic Grants with state and federal grant proposal development, strategy, timelines, and submission processes to ensure compliance and competitiveness.
- Prepare and submit required mid-term and final grant reports and supporting documentation in accordance with funder requirements.
- Coordinate with finance staff to track grant expenditures and assist in developing accurate financial reports.
- Maintain comprehensive grant records, including funder research, application deadlines, reporting schedules, and compliance documentation, and support accurate recordkeeping in Raiser’s Edge.
- Establish and strengthen relationships with grant funders and community partners; assist with foundation annual reports and draft communications related to awarded grants.
- Stay current on emerging best practices in grant development and management through professional organizations, continuing education, and adherence to the highest ethical standards.

Requirements
To be Considered You'll Need:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, or a related field.
Three or more years of experience in grant development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating successful grant writing.
Demonstrated experience preparing grant proposals and developing grant reports.
Preferred Qualifications (although not required):
Master's degree in journalism, English, communications, or a related field is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of grant research, application, and reporting processes.
- Familiarity with government and non-government grant programs.
- Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to write clearly, concisely, and persuasively.
- Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, Raiser’s Edge, and online research tools.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects under pressure.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and apply innovative approaches to grant development.
- Ability to coordinate grant projects with college staff and community partners.
