Mutternity Project is a nonprofit dog rescue dedicated to saving and supporting mother dogs and their puppies from high-risk shelters across Southern California. We believe in second chances, compassion, and creating lasting change through community, storytelling, and love.
As our programs continue to grow, we’re looking for a Foster & Adoption Team Coordinator to help streamline our operations, strengthen our volunteer network, and ensure every mama and pup in our care receives the best possible start to their new life.
Position Overview
The Foster Coordinator will oversee our Foster program, ensuring foster operations run smoothly, efficiently, and with heart. Their primary goal is to make our fosters feel supported — creating more streamlined systems, enhancing foster retention, and maintaining the integrity of our data and storytelling. This role is central to increasing the overall impact and sustainability of our rescue.
You’ll work closely with leadership to build stronger workflows, create meaningful foster experiences, and keep our volunteers aligned and supported.
Key Responsibilities
Program Oversight
Supervise and support our fosters to ensure maximum efficiency and organization
Communicate with fosters, track progress, and ensure dashboards are up to date
Coordinate on-site involvement for events
Manage vet appointments, ensuring vaccines and procedures are completed on schedule
Conduct foster check-ins to ensure timely updates and support
Operational Systems & Data Integrity
Maintain and monitor Notion dashboards, including:
Supply Tracker
Adoptable Dogs Database
Engagement and data tracking
Ensure all foster-related data (applications, records, etc.) are accurate and organized in Dach (our CRM platform)
Manage coordinator tickets, ensuring timely follow-up and delegation
Story Development & Retention
Identify and develop foster testimonials for social media and donor campaigns
Help create a structured mentorship program to onboard and support new fosters, improving retention and satisfaction
Requirements
Ideal Traits & Experience
Strong communication and organizational skills
Background in CSR, volunteer coordination, or operations
Experience with CRMs or project management tools (Notion, Airtable, etc.)
Proactive problem-solving and systems-oriented mindset
Passion for animal welfare and rescue work
Role Details:
Part-time, approximately 24 hours per week at $20/hr
Paid virtual training can begin as soon as you’re available
Location: Some work will be in-person in Santa Monica, with the occasional weekend event as the team continues to grow. The role requires a minimum of 3 in-person day per week, with additional days as event needs increase
Based on performance, we anticipate a transition to full-time
