Join our Work Zones and Pavement Markings Unit and play a key role in the design, implementation, and inspection of work zone traffic control and pavement marking in the Metro District!
This position supervises a design squad in the preparation and implementation of MnDOT work zone traffic control and pavement marking plans. This position develops and reviews Traffic Control Plans. This position also reviews project and event work zone traffic control plans prepared by maintenance consultants, local agencies, and permit applicants to ensure that they meet established standards.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Three (3) years of experience as an Engineering Specialist or equivalent that demonstrates:
- Experience developing and implementing traffic control and pavement marking plans for moderate to large scale projects
- Traffic engineering principles and standards sufficient to review work zone traffic control plans and ensure they meet established standards
- Roadway construction practices sufficient to direct development of multiple projects
- Experience monitoring construction project field conditions and working with internal and external customers to adjust and modify traffic control plans due to unexpected or changing conditions/situations.
If advanced to the finalist pool, you will also be assessed on the following criteria during a job interview:
- Human relations skills sufficient to develop and maintain relationships and build consensus with MnDOT staff, customers, and peers
- Ability to review traffic related technical information (both internal and external agency plans, permits requests, etc.) and be able to provide recommendation for approval or modifications to material/information submitted.
- Oral and written communication skills sufficient to communicate information and provide training clearly and concisely to customers and stakeholders, including occasional direct contact with the public
