Position Summary
The Coordinator of Rape Crisis Center (Coordinator) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Rape Crisis Center’s SVRA, Volunteer Advocates and SANE programming, ensuring high-quality, survivor-centered services are delivered within our facility. This role oversees both the Sexual Violence Response Advocates and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs), ensuring that they work seamlessly together to provide crisis intervention, forensic exams, and ongoing support to survivors. In addition, the Coordinator collaborates with the Senior Program Manager who is their counterpart at the Family Violence Shelter to ensure seamless service provision. The Coordinator is responsible for maintaining compliance with clinical and ethical standards, compliance with Office of the Attorney General Standards & Criteria, managing staff, fostering community partnerships, ensuring the sustainability of grant-funded programs, and contributing to the agency’s overall mission.
Essential Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Rape Crisis Center (RCC) Operations Lead and manage all aspects of the SANE and Advocate service provision within the RCC, ensuring a trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and culturally responsive approach.
Oversee the joint coordination of SVRA and SANEs response to provide sexual assault exams at the RCC. Includes scheduling of SANEs, SVRA, and volunteer Rape Response Advocates (RRA), forensic exam protocols, and compliance with state and federal guidelines.
Develop and refine policies and procedures that guide service provision at the Rape Crisis Center of the SRVA, RRA and SANEs to ensure seamless integration of services.
Ensure 24/7 availability of Advocate and SANE response, ensuring prompt and professional forensic medical exams and documentation for survivors of sexual assault.
Provide oversight of facility safety and security protocols during medical exams and advocacy services to ensure privacy and confidentiality for all survivors.
Advocacy & SANE Program Oversight Supervise Sexual Assault Advocates who provide crisis intervention, accompaniment for exams, legal advocacy, and ongoing support, ensuring they are adequately trained and supported.
Manage and oversee the SANEs, ensuring proper training, certification, and continuing education. Ensure the forensic medical exams are conducted following industry standards for evidence collection, documentation, and survivor care.
Maintain a robust system for the coordination of services between Advocates and SANEs, ensuring holistic, seamless care for survivors at every stage of the process.
Oversee quality assurance for both the provision of advocacy and forensic nursing services, ensuring services are continuously evaluated and improved.
Support staff through ongoing supervision, debriefing, and provision of resources to prevent burnout and vicarious trauma.
Staff & Volunteer Leadership Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate both Advocates and SANEs to ensure compliance with organizational policies, licensing requirements, and trauma-informed best practices.
Ensure all staff and volunteers receive appropriate training on sexual assault, domestic violence, trauma-informed care, confidentiality, and forensic medical protocols.
Foster a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment, promoting cross-program collaboration between Advocates, SANEs, and Family Violence Shelter staff.
Community Partnerships & Systems Advocacy Serve as the lead liaison between the Rape Crisis Center and local healthcare systems, law enforcement, prosecutors, child advocacy centers, and other community partners.
Advocate for survivors within these systems to ensure their needs are prioritized and met in a timely, trauma-informed manner.
Actively participate in Sexual Assault Response Teams (SARTs) and other multidisciplinary teams, representing the nonprofit’s approach to comprehensive survivor care.
Advocate for policies that support survivor rights and access to justice within both medical and legal systems.
Grants, Compliance & Reporting Manage all aspects of grant-funded services related to advocacy and SANE services to include VOCA, SASP, United Way, Victims Compensation, and Office of the Attorney General.
Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements for forensic exams, including evidence collection, documentation, and reporting.
Maintain clear and accurate records on program activities, outcomes, and financial expenditures for timely reporting to funders.
Contribute to the writing and renewal of grants to support the sustainability of the services provided by the Rape Crisis Center.
Community Education & Prevention (as applicable) Work with identified WRC Staff in community education efforts, including public awareness campaigns and professional training related to sexual violence, the forensic exam process, and trauma-informed care.
Work with WRC Prevention, Education, and Outreach Specialist and the Communication and Event Specialist to engage with local schools, universities, and community groups to provide educational resources and support for sexual assault prevention.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in social work, nursing, public health, nonprofit management, or a related field. (Master’s degree preferred)
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in sexual assault services, victim advocacy, forensic medical care, or related nonprofit work.
At least 3 years of experience managing medical and/or advocacy programs.
Strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles, victim advocacy, and sexual assault dynamics.
Familiarity with the SANE exam process and forensic documentation standards.
Demonstrated ability to manage 24/7 services, ensuring adequate staffing and coverage for the SANE program.
Proven track record of staff supervision and professional development.
Excellent communication, leadership, and community engagement skills.
Preferred Qualifications
SANE-A/SANE-P certification or experience managing a SANE program.
Licensed healthcare professional or mental health clinician.
Experience working in a community based advocacy center, rape crisis center, with forensic medical services.
Experience with nonprofit management, grant compliance, and funding.
Bilingual or multilingual skills (preferred but not required).
