The Washington State Department of Revenue is seeking an experienced investigative leader to serve as the Claims Research Team Supervisor (Investigator 4) within the Working Families Tax Credit Division.
The Working Families Tax Credit Division helps eligible individuals understand, apply for, and receive the credit while maintaining accurate records and administering the program responsibly. Within the division, the Claims Research Team helps protect program integrity by preventing and detecting financial losses associated with fraud or malfeasance. The team uses crossmatching, skip tracing, tips and leads, and other detection tools to identify and prevent fraud.
In this role, you will develop and lead a highly trained team of investigators while helping guide the division's fraud mitigation strategy. You will oversee investigative operations, strengthen policies and procedures, analyze emerging trends, and advise leaders on effective fraud identification and prevention practices. As the division's chief investigative specialist, you will also work with legal counsel and external partners on matters that may result in civil or criminal enforcement.
This opportunity may be an excellent fit if you are an accomplished investigative professional who combines sound judgment and technical expertise with the ability to coach employees, establish clear expectations, navigate complex cases, and build productive relationships across organizational and jurisdictional boundaries. Your work will help ensure that public resources are administered fairly, securely, and in accordance with state and federal requirements.
The hiring manager may start screening applicants as early as November 3, 2026, and make a hiring decision at any time after. It will be to your advantage to submit materials as soon as possible.
It is preferred that this position interacts with claimants, in Spanish, or another language, in writing and over the phone. Your ability to read, write, and speak in a language other than English will earn you an additional 5% assignment pay!
