Job Title: Business Development Officer
Position Location: Raleigh, NC. Hybrid Position, must live locally.
Job Summary:
The banking Business Development Officer supports strategic growth across retail banking by executing outreach initiatives, promoting banking products, and enhancing member engagement. This role focuses on implementing campaigns, supporting community events, and collaborating across departments to drive product adoption and member satisfaction.
As a key contributor to the Coastal team, your responsibilities will be:
(35%) Outreach & Member Engagement
- Lead SEG outreach and referral activities by conducting onsite visits with SEG's, community organizations, and chambers of commerce to promote the credit union's brand as a mission-driven, community-focused financial cooperative. The BDO also develops and maintains strong relationships within the credit union's field of membership.
- Identify and assist in hosting financial wellness workshops and community events by coordinating registration, conducting collaborative financial wellness workshops with our partners, and any additional duties needed to ensure a smooth and high-quality member experience.
- Conduct personalized outreach to encourage member participation by representing the credit union at community events and contacting and meeting with the CEO's and decision makers of organizations to identify new partnership opportunities.
(35%) Product Promotion & Support
- Serve as the main point of contact for any questions or assistance that the SEG's or community organization needs. Promote checking, savings, CDs, and consumer loans through outreach and campaign execution.
- Assist with onboarding and product education for new members by conducting seminars and facilitating employer-based account opening events.
(15%) Cross-functional collaboration:
- Lead collaboration with Retail, Wealth Management, Mortgage, and Member Services to ensure aligned messaging and engagement efforts.
(15%) Performance Tracking and Team Support:
- Track and report KPIs such as membership growth, deposit volume, and campaign effectiveness to the Business Development Manager. The KPI data will be used to provide feedback on the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns and identify market insights that will improve our outreach strategies.

Experience:
- Five years of experience in retail banking
- Experience with CRM systems and digital banking tools preferred
Education:
- Related bachelor's degree or four years additional experience in lieu of degree

Must be able to learn and retain information; resolve problems and think sequentially; remain in a stationary position; constantly operate a computer; travel independently; work in outdoor weather conditions; and converse with others on a continual basis.
