Through a new partnership, Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) is embarking on an exciting season of historic growth, almost doubling our programs across the globe and thus, expanding our staff. In this role, you will serve the needs of youth service programs internationally by training, supporting, and evaluating their programs.
Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) is a network of youth service programs throughout the U.S., Canada, and Uganda. We engage youth in team-based service experiences that build life and work skills while inspiring youth for a lifetime commitment to service. Over 300,000 youth have served with YVC since 1987.
YVC’s national headquarters is in a beautifully restored home built in 1874 in the Quality Hill District of downtown Kansas City. Inside this house, you’ll find energy, enthusiasm, a supportive team, and loyalty to the idea that youth service can change the world.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The focus of this position will be primarily on supporting YVC youth service programming by being an advocate, coach, resource provider, and supporter of local directors in our various communities across the globe.
Program Support (50%): Oversee the operations of current YVC affiliate programs throughout the YVC network.
- Maintain consistent communication (via phone, email, and site visits) with up to 15 YVC affiliate programs.
- Provide ongoing training and support through check-ins, evaluations, resource development, in-person site visits, webinars, etc.
- Troubleshoot problems and assist with solutions for affiliate challenges.
- Ensure affiliates’ adherence to YVC Program Standards. Maintain knowledge of major policy, safety and program issues related to youth service programs.
- Provide technical assistance for YVC resources.
- Develop and implement strategies to expand YVC’s reach and impact through school partnerships and school-based programs.
- Ensure accuracy of program data for affiliates. Maintain appropriate documentation for affiliate communication.
- Develop and maintain relationships with organizations important to YVC’s success.
As we hire two roles in our department, other primary duties will be decided based on skillset and interest level. These duties would include ONE of the following (40%):
A) Affiliate Training and Collaboration: Act as the team lead for facilitation of peer-to-peer training opportunities and connections across the YVC network, scaling collaborative initiatives as applicable.
- Facilitate monthly peer-to-peer training opportunities for affiliates across the YVC network.
- Develop monthly affiliate newsletter.
- Develop and scale collaborative initiatives across the YVC network.
- Act as a hub for affiliate connections.
- Recruit and onboard new affiliates by managing tasks associated with YVC’s growth initiatives including the development and implementation of a multi-faceted growth outreach strategy.
- Assist in leading the International Youth Advisory Board.
- Act as a coordinator for internal affiliate updates.
B) Curriculum and Resource Development: Create youth development resources for programs in the YVC network and help manage our resource database.
- With the Affiliate Services Team, lead the development of service-learning lessons and unit plans. Training will be provided upon hiring.
- Develop new training content for affiliate resources library.
- Manage the online affiliate resource library including maintaining organization of resources, ensuring resources are up to date, making necessary edits, etc.
- Lead research efforts to keep YVC current on youth development trends and social needs.
- Assist an external coordinator with an evaluation of the long-term impact of volunteerism for youth volunteers.
Other (10%):
- Assist with YVCHQ team effort to plan and implement YVC Summit, YVC’s annual conference.
- Collaborate with other YVCHQ team members by participating in strategic discussions or providing assistance and expertise when needed to help accomplish organization-wide goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Well-developed administrative skills including proactive communication, follow-through, and deadline management.
- Proficient (or resourceful) with computer knowledge and Microsoft office products, technology and data management skills.
- Experience working with youth a plus.
- Experience in volunteer/program management a plus.

- Ability to travel approximately 3-5 times per year (typically 2-3 days each trip), possible longer international travel required (approximately once per year).

Reporting Roles: Reports to the Vice President of Operations
Compensation: The range for this position is $48,000-$56,000 and will be dependent upon experience and skillset.
Paid Time Off (PTO): This position starts with three weeks PTO and 14 paid holidays per year.
Benefits: YVC’s benefits include highly subsidized employee medical insurance and life insurance, with options for employee-paid dental, vision, additional life insurance, and family coverage. A retirement plan is available, and YVC matches 50% of employee contributions up to 6% of income.
Work Arrangements: After initial 90-day onboarding and establishment of relationships, flexible work arrangements including a hybrid remote situation are a possibility if desired.
