About the Position
The Accounting Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day finance department's functions and operations of the Foundation. This position will maintain strong internal controls while processing accounts payable and receivable, credit card expenses, recording daily revenue journals, and assisting in month and year-end financial close cycles. The Coordinator supports financial operations by preparing reports, assisting with audits, and performing ad hoc expense analysis.
Position Breakdown:
- Oversee daily accounting tasks, including bookkeeping, ledger entries and financial statement preparation
- Assist with the preparation of the monthly balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statements, and department reports
- Process and record accounts payable and receivable transactions with accuracy and timeliness
- Assist in reconciling all balance sheet accounts monthly
- Manage monthly credit card expenses incurred on organization credit cards; ensure proper documentation and accurate expense coding
- Collaborate with external auditors during financial audits, and ensure all documentation is accurate and readily available
- Assist with filing tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies
- Process and post daily cash receipts in accounting software (Fund EZ), including check deposits and credit card payments; verify donation/payment type in fundraising program (Raiser’s Edge)
- Assist with monthly revenue reconciliation between Fund EZ and Raiser’s Edge by the 5th workday of the month
- Update monthly balance statements for donor-advised funds and Giving Circle/Council Funds
- Assist with the annual organizational budgeting process
- Communicate and enforce purchasing policies and payment requisition procedures with staff and vendors
- Maintain vendor files, W-9s, and banking information
- Process bi-monthly payroll and send reports to Director of Finance and Director of HR for approval
- Perform general accounting and other related duties for the Foundation
Other Finance & Accounting:
- Manage the accounts payable email inbox
- Assist with ad-hoc finance projects
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Continually assess and improve accounting processes and systems to enhance accuracy and efficiency
- Maintains knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Other:
- Attend and actively participate in required educational programs and departmental and staff meetings
- Update knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; maintaining networks; participating in professional organizations
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and President/CEO
Work Environment:
- This position requires attendance during business hours - 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday with two remote workdays.
- Occasional night and weekend hours are required to attend and assist at Foundation events or potential funder meetings and events.
- This position operates primarily in an office environment that is accessible. Some work at off-site locations may be required and those may not necessarily be fully accessible.
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, and filing cabinets.
- The employee may be asked to lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
- Travel between the primary office and other locations may be required.
- Workplace is a smoke- and drug-free environment.

Compensation:
CFW offers a competitive compensation package for all positions. Comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, life, short and long-term disability insurance, and 403 (b) plan with an employer nonelective contribution of 3%. CFW provides the following in paid time off: Fifteen vacation days, fourteen sick days, four personal days, two floating holidays, twelve organizational holidays, and two remote days per week (Mondays and Fridays). CFW also has paid leave and sabbatical policies and offers professional development/membership opportunities. The salary will be $58,925 – $67,000.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in accounting/finance related field or equivalent work and lived experience
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant hands-on accounting experience; ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Solid understanding of basic accounting terminology, and accounts payable/receivable principles
- Strong customer service, communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills
- Excellent problem solving and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and follow through
- Ability to manage confident matters with utmost integrity
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite
- Experience with accounting systems, Fund EZ preferred
- Ability to work independently and willingness to work in collaborative teams
- Passion for CFW’s mission
